Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting department. This role also serves as a consultant for managers within the organization, advising them of current budgetary information, and working with managers to create a fiscal strategy that aligns with the goals of the organization.

Essential Functions:
  • Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager will oversee the AR/AP staff and their responsibilities.
  • Coordinate the month-end closing procedures for all entities and review accounts for accuracy.
  • Prepare consolidated financial reports monthly and as required.
  • Oversee recording of daily cash and bank reconciliation.
  • Coordinate and gather requirements for tax returns (i.e. franchise, property, sales and use).
  • Prepare additional financial reporting and analysis as requested.
  • Prepare and approve monthly journal entries.
  • Review or prepare general ledger reconciliations.
  • Assure internal control compliance and train staff on internal control procedures.
  • Support quarterly and annual financial audits.
  • Ensure spending is correctly accounted for in accordance with GAAP.
  • On a period basis, identify significant variances, research and document explanations. Summarize and communicate findings to management for period close analytics.
  • Identify and implement efficiencies related to area of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization
  • Work with confidential data, which, if disclosed, might have significant internal effect or minor external effect.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent number of years of experience, plus eight years of accounting experience.
  • CPA designation.
  • Excellent Communication and Presentation skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Experience in manufacturing or CPG industry preferred.
