Senior Revenue Accountant

Summary/Objective

To provide support and analytics to the Billing & Revenue Manager and other leaders across the organization. You’ll ensure that our revenue recognition policies are documented and applied in each domestic & global customer invoice created in compliance with their contractual commitments. When customers have questions about their bills, you will collaborate across functions to resolve them. Your role is critical in ensuring that our accounting policies are supported under audit, up-to-date, and applied in all customer relationships. This role reports to the Global Billing and Revenue Manager.

Essential Functions
  • Supporting monthly invoice generation including gathering billing data, calculating and posting charges, and creating and distributing invoices.
  • Strong understanding and application of ASC 606 and ASC 842 standards including contract assets, contract liabilities, lessor accounting, and average customer life concepts
  • Detailed understanding of accounting concepts, GAAP principles and SOX controls
  • Reviewing and researching complex billing and usage data to identify and resolve errors and billing variances
  • Validating and processing customer requests for credits and monitoring contractual commitments
  • Collaborating with other functional areas to create non-standard billing solutions understand how they affect current and deferred revenue
  • Coordinating rating calculations and adjustments and providing written confirmation of resolution
  • Producing standard and non-standard reports for finance leadership, auditors and account teams
  • This position will support revenue recognition, billing functions and related analytics.
  • Analyze customer inquiries of complex strategic accounts for appropriate resolution and revenue recognition
  • Prepare ad hoc revenue related reports with complete analysis and recommendation for resolution
  • Perform complex customer account reconciling with complex hierarchy and billing processes
  • Process complex non-standard billing transactions
  • Works with other departments, outside providers, internal and external customers to resolve issues, improve processes, and ensure understanding by all parties
  • Develop and delivery meaningful departmental KPI reports
  • Troubleshoots complex billing disputes requiring cross functional knowledge and applies judgment for appropriate action
  • Participate on cross functional projects
  • Provide training and guidance to billing analysts
  • Use excellent verbal and written communication skills to build strong relationships with internal and external customers while influencing others
  • Operates effectively as part of a team and in managing own work
  • Perform complex root cause analysis to reduce or eliminate billing issues
  • Review, analyze, reconcile and escalate any billing issues
  • Run, analyze and report on unprocessed billing and its effects on current and deferred revenue


Competencies
Must have strong verbal and written skills
Must have at least 5 years of audit or technical accounting experience, preferably associated with customer receivables or billing
Must be able to book and analyze journal entries and account reconciliations
Experience in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook)
Experience with billing systems, products and services.
Previous NetSuite experience a plus

Hybrid (3 days at home and 2 days in Irving Corporate Office)
