FAMILY OFFICE DIRECTOR Level position – Accounting, Tax, Finance, Investment POSITION IS IN OFFICE LOCATED WITHIN ZIP CODE 75225
Family Office that invests directly and indirectly in private and public debt and equity, real estate, oil and gas, and other investments through a variety of vehicles seeks to add a Director level position that will report directly to the Managing Director and will have significant interaction with the family members. The Director will provide complete oversight of the accounting, tax, and financial activities of the firm in coordination with internal and external resources. Additionally, this position will assist in the overall daily management of the operations of the firm and the foundation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage the financial accounting function of the family office which includes managing financial close, maintaining the general ledger and preparation of financial statements of all the entities managed by the family office, including trusts and the foundation (G\L management, preparation of financial statements, execution of payroll & taxes)
Assist in the development of the annual operating budget
Investment tracking and performance measurement for investments; partnerships, hedge funds, managed accounts, private equity and private debt (direct and funds), and real estate entities
Responsible for monitoring of cash position and requirements for liquidity and banking relationships, including managing daily liquidity, and margin and lines of credit (when/if called for)
Manage the funding, controls, and approval process for internal and external transfers, payments, and balances
Coordinate, implement and maintain tax planning and related documentation working with external and in-house resources, as well as, coordinating with senior leadership of operating businesses
Review of corporate, franchise, gift, partnership, private foundation, and individual tax returns; ensure timely preparation and delivery through the ownership of all constituents
Prepare quarterly tax estimates for timely filing of estimated payments
Proactively seek to improve the quality and timeliness of tax returns, in addition to, researching and implementing various practices to improve the tax process
Assist with various planning functions including cash flow management, estate and gift planning, and insurance planning
Involved with a variety of human resource functions including recruiting, compensation, benefits, policies, and procedures, and determining staffing needs
Manage relationships with outside accounting/tax firms and legal counsel
Manage relationships of management companies of principal’s motor yacht and private jets
Review and execution of investment subscription and partnership agreements for accuracy.
Manage and provide guidance to Senior Accountant and Bookkeeper/Office Assistant
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business
CPA, or Master’s degree/MBA preferred
Approximately 5+ years of Experience
Experience with Financial Reporting & Planning, Business Valuation, Asset & Investment Management, Financial Modeling & Analysis, Tax Avoidance & Preparation is ideal
