Accounting Manager

Accounting Manager

This position is responsible for corporate level accounting activities of a publicly traded recycling and recommerce business.

Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a master’s degree preferred.
  • CPA is required.
  • Public accounting experience is required.
  • Exposure to developing and maintaining a SOX compliant internal control environment.
  • Exposure to SEC reporting and corporate consolidations.
  • Experience in physical commodities, metals or e-waste recycling would be beneficial.
  • Exposure to business personal and real property tax preparation.
  • Experience in drafting accounting policy in accordance with USGAAP.
  • Five years of work experience.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the timely consolidation of entity level financial statements.
  • Ensure all divisions have closed their financials in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the CFO and division Controllers in the development of internal controls and group level accounting policies.
  • Take ownership of group accounting folders and workpaper presentation.
  • Assist with disclosures and footnotes.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers on ERP and process improvement projects.
  • Work with the CFO on overhead allocation entries.

Skills & Abilities
  • Microsoft Dynamics Navision or Business Central experience or similarly sophisticated ERP.
  • Exposure to reporting software such as Workiva.
  • Advanced Excel skills, which include creating easily understood summaries, VLOOKUPs, HLOOKUPs and SUMIFs.
  • Effective communicator: written and verbal.
  • Customer service mindset.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to advance their career.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Desire to refine processes and take ownership of controls and accounting activities.
  • Ability to liaise between the commercial, operations and accounting functions and to be able to understand each group’s needs.
  • Understands workpaper quality and the needs of external audit.
  • Acts with integrity.
  • A friendly, positive, and outgoing personality is a must.
  • Professional business acumen, strong public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
